In-Ground and Wireless Dog Fences for Border Collies
The days of having to live with those ugly gray chain link fences for your Border Collie are slowly ceasing to be because of cutting edge in-ground and wireless dog fences in the marketplace.
No critter in the right mind, such as your Border Collie likes being in a fenced yard. Typical dog fences tend to squash that sensation of natural openness that being in the great outdoors provides. With today’s wireless dog fences, your Border Collie can feel like the master of his universe when you use a radio-based dog fence or an in-ground electric dog fence.
So, if you see tiny colored flags instead of a dog on a chain, know that this is an indicator of an installed in-ground dog fence.
Electric or electronic dog fences are quite a bit cheaper to install and is much less intrusive than a traditional fence. As a bonus, you are not stuck with a hideous fence in your yard. It only requires a fairly simple installation and a a few gentle training sessions with your Border Collie to have the fence of your dogs dreams. After that, the dog fence safely does the hard work of keeping your Border Collie out of the street and close to home.
The Types of Invisible Dog Fences Available
There are a few primary types of invisible dog fences available on the Web for you to keep control of your Border Collie. Frequently, many makers of dog fences like Innotek, Perimeter and PetSafe offer a core configuration, advanced features and advanced remote training functionality.
- In-Ground Dog Fences: These are great for big yards (sometimes up to 25 acres) and are easy to install. To get the fence installed, simply connect the buried wire loop to the indoor radio transmitter. When your Border Collie comes near the wire, he will feel a slight static charge to discourage him from going any further. As the dog learns, he will not get too close to the boundary to avoid any discomfort. This is simple and effective Border Collie containment.
- Wireless or Radio Dog Fences: These invisible dog fences work with radio waves from a transmitter that you plug into as simple wall outlet. The further your Border Collie goes away from the radio transmitter, the slight static charge from the collar increases to signal the dog to come home. Radio wave dog fences work very well for smaller areas than in-ground fences, such as restricted yards or even inside the house or RV.
Both of these dog fences are humane and safe for your Border Collie, so don’t worry about that! Electric dog fences use a small static charge to influence the dogs behavior. There is no chance of harm from electric shock, as the waterproof remote dog collars use a small lithium power source to generate the charge.
